What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is direct training of a person’s brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently.
Everything we think, feel, and do is a result of billions of neuron activity in our brains!
This activity produces EEG or brainwave activity. Research shows that it is possible to train these brain waves to improve a person’s overall brain function, and this is what Neurofeedback does.
Neurofeedback uses a computer software program to communicate with your brain using real-time EEG, also known as electroencephalogram, or brainwave activity.
Learn More about the process on this page!
How long is the treatment?
Sessions are standard outpatient mental health office visits that typically last 50-55 minutes. About 30 minutes will be active training/therapy, and the remaining time is used for review of progress and therapeutic interventions.
Can I do Neurofeedback if I take medications?
Yes! Neurofeedback is a natural, drug-free treatment. You can start training your brain even though you are taking medication.
Can I use my health insurance?
Yes! I am an in-network provider and accept the majority of insurance company plans, however, do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
What does Neurofeedback treat?
Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dysregulation that can include many symptoms or brain-related disorders. Neurofeedback is an excellent treatment for:
- Childhood trauma or neglect
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Bipolar Disorder – Conduct Disorder
- Autism
- ADHD
- Seizure disorders
- Migraines
- Chronic Pain
- Pervasive Developmental Delays
- Brain Injury
- Concussions
- Sleep-related issues
- Drug abuse
- Eating disorders
- Peak Performance
- Cerebral Palsy
- Autoimmune disease
What are the outcomes?
We have high expectations that everyone can benefit from Neurofeedback! Because the training actually alters the brainwaves, this becomes a permanent change to the brain, eliminating one’s symptoms.
What is the process?
We apply electrodes to the scalp to listen in on the brainwave activity. This information is processed through the computer software program and then feedback begins in the person’s brain by using auditory, visual, and tactile feedback.
This creates the feedback loop that immediately starts to change the brain. Research has shown our brains are neoplastic, or pliable. Hence, experiences, thoughts, and feelings can change the way the brain functions.
This is where Neurofeedback can help!
